Here are some examples of subjects we will cover in your guitar lessons. With each of these topics, we’ll begin at a level that’s appropriate for you. Whether you have a lot of guitar experience, or are just beginning, I can help.

I will work with you to turn all topics that we cover into functional skills that you can use to actually make music. We’ll accomplish this by playing together frequently and working through exercises and songs.

  • Chords – We will progress through all chord families, giving you a thorough understanding of essential guitar chords.
  • Improvisation – You will learn to use scales, arpeggios, and other common soloing devices to build or advance your soloing ability.
  • Technique – We’ll use exercises to develop and consistently improve your right and left hand technique.
  • Music Theory – As we progress, I will teach you the theory behind the music so that you understand how the techniques you are learning work.
  • Reading – You will become skilled at reading standard music notation.

These are just some general topics that will be covered. If you’d like to know if I’d be able to help you learn a specific skill or music style, please feel free to call or write.
